If you had money, won the lottery, or inherited a butt load of money... would you fluant it? Like would you buy 20 cars, buy a gigantic house, wear expensive jewerly and make your home a shrine of expensive artifacts?
Jeff and I talked about this many times. First off, we would pay off any debt that we owe...like, school loans and car payments. We would want a nice home, nothing huge, just your typical 2 story, 4 bedroom, 2 bath home, with a garage...a garage would be nice ^_^ We would probably get a pool, that would be cool. We would for sure get us a boat to take with us on camping trips. And a couple of 4 wheelers to ride the hills with. That's it. The rest would go into savings for Cassidy's schooling.
What brings this up. The lady that works with me got robbed in December and has found that her stuff has been sold on Ebay. I feel bad for her, as well as the other 11 people in her community that were robbed. I don't know if its wrong for me to think this way, but I feel she had brought it on herself. She has no problem telling everyone how much nice material things she owns. Like expensive artifacts she claims makes her home look like a museum...she owns over 20 vehicles (and yes, I have seen at least 10 of them.) She wears huges rocks on each of her fingers, and lives in a community with doctors and other high society folks. She was telling us she prayed to God to find out who did this and to have her stuff returned. Really, does anyone need that much stuff? Yes, the bad guys should be punished...stealing is wrong no matter if the one stole from is rich or not.
I guess I can't see how material things can be something I would pray to God for. As long as God is providing a roof over our heads and food in our bellies, I am pleased. Material things are nice and there is no problem with having them, but they aren't that important.
*sigh*
